Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Accept Medical Insurance?
No. The Chiropractic Studio does not deal directly with insurance providers.
However, we do provide detailed invoices for all services rendered, which you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement as per their policies. Should your particular insurer require any additional details, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Therefore, if you plan to claim from your insurer for treatment received at The Chiropractic Studio, we strongly advise checking your policy details with them before treatment commences.
Kindly note that payment for treatments is required either before or on the day of your appointment. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
At The Chiropractic Studio we are passionate about improving your health and well-being; but we’re also a business with bills to pay and overheads to cover whether you attend your sessions or not. Therefore, our cancellation policy is simple and clear:
24-Hour Notice: Should you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please provide us with a minimum of 24hrs notice.
Failure to attend or cancellations received with less than 24hrs notice will incur the full appointment fee— regardless of the reason.
Please also refer to our Clinic Policies page for further details.
Understanding Our Cancellation Policy:
We approach healthcare with kindness and compassion; therefore, this decision is particularly uncomfortable for us as it feels anything but. However, it is a very hard commercial decision we have had to accept in order keep our small business sustainable and successful. We thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.
Do You Need A Referral From A Medical Doctor To See A Chiropractor?
No.
However, in certain circumstances, we may, with your consent, refer you back to your GP or other healthcare providers for further investigations.
To Crack Or Not To Crack, That Is The Question…And What Exactly Is Joint Manipulation?
Joint manipulation (also affectionately known as an adjustment) is just one of many techniques we use at The Chiropractic Studio. In essence, it is the manual application of a momentary, very fast stretch impulse to one or more joints. This may or may not be accompanied by a ‘popping’ or ‘cracking’ sound. This type of technique is often useful to enhance mobility in an area where functional movement has become impeded and potentially painful. If you would like to know more, please head over to our blog page ‘Function & Flourish’.
Is Chiropractic Treatment Safe?
Well, the short answer is yes— when performed by an appropriately trained, regulated and insured practitioner, chiropractic is a safe and effective treatment for a variety of low-risk conditions.
That said, like anything in life, it does not mean it comes with no risk.
Experiencing mild or moderate ‘adverse effects’ after manual therapy is relatively common, these are things like feeling a bit stiff or sore – particularly around where you have been treated, you may notice you are a little more tired, or sleepier than normal or even thirsty. These effects tend to dissipate within about 24 hours and are all normal outcomes that are not unique to chiropractic treatment. On the other hand, you may not feel anything at all!
Talking about things like potential risks and alternative options we do as standard. However, if you find yourself uncertain, or you would like further information or clarification at any point to aid your decision-making process, please do not hesitate to ask. We love answering questions about what we do, no matter how trivial they may seem— although you may struggle to get us to stop once we get going! For us, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve asked it— there is no such thing as a daft question!
In short, if you are concerned in any way, whether it be about starting a course of treatment or after an appointment, just give us a call— we’re always happy to help.

What is a Chiropractor?
Simply put, a chiropractor is a healthcare professional who specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and management of a variety of musculoskeletal disorders.
What is less well known, is that it is the third largest primary healthcare profession in the world after Medicine & Dentistry! To become a chiropractor, requires between 4-5 years of training at an accredited university— just like physiotherapists, osteopaths and medical doctors.
Similarly to other healthcare disciplines chiropractors are also regulated, and like other regulated healthcare professions, are required to retain their registration annually. For chiropractors this is with the General Chiropractic Council. As part of that retention, they are also required to log and complete a certain number of hours of ‘continuing professional development’ each year. This helps to ensure that chiropractors keep their skills and treatment approaches up to date.
